By: Harvin Gulfill

Selecting the best puppy food that will help you rear one healthy and happy dog can be a tough choice. You will need to meet these requirements if you want to raise one great dog. Here are some tips to let you know how it can be done.

Good puppy food is carefully chosen puppy food. Your veterinarian or the previous owner of your puppy can recommend what your puppy might just need. Make sure that you are able to need all his nutritional requirements. This will keep him disease free and happy.

Puppies are a lovable bundle of growth spurts and energy that is why they need good nutrition every day. A well formulated meal should consist of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water. This will make sure your puppy remains healthy and strong. You also need to make sure they are eating clean, preservative and coloring free food.

Since puppies are carnivores, they are considered meat eaters. That's why puppy food is usually based on meat. This doesn't mean that you should pick out puppy food that says "meat". Pick out food that specifically says what type of meat: lamb, chicken or beef.

Be careful of puppy allergies. This is because of puppy's varying genetic make-up. Mostly, avoid allergy causing food like products that have wheat and corn because they are hard to digest and don't contain enough nutrients.

Try out recommended puppy food first before buying a whole lot of it. It was be well recommended but at times, puppy's digestive tracts may not seem to do well with it. You might want to change their diet then. Seek the next puppy food on the list.

Avoid food with uncertain ingredients. There is a lot of food your puppy is banned from touching! What may not be good for you may not also be good for your pet but this doesn't mean you should start feeding it with human food!
